On to Week Three...

Law school is tiring. It wears me out. I wish I had more to say, but that basically sums up the experience thus far.

I should be starting my outlines. We've finished a section in Torts, gone through two chapters in Contracts, and two sections of civil procedure. Granted one of those sections and one of those chapters was just introductory stuff, but still. I don't like not feeling as if I am on top of things as much as I can be. I want to be queen of the mountain, damn it.

Saturday was a fantastic football day. I love this season. I love fall. Just need tv shows to start back up again.

Bah, I had so many things to say when I first sat down to write, but now my head is empty. Story of my life.

Lawyer Jokes and Metaphors

I have found 4 somewhat bad lawyer jokes in my Law & Economics textbook in Chapter 10: An Economic History of the Legal Process. They are:

- A businessman receives a bill from his lawyer that reads: "Crossed street to see client. Thought it was you. $50."

- A sociologist studying longevity found that the average lawyer lives twice as long as the average doctor and three times as long as the average school teacher. Life span for lawyers was computed using billing hours.

- Q; Why don't sharks attack lawyers? A. Professional courtesy.

- "It was so cold last winter, that I saw a lawyer with his hands in his own pockets."

Now for the metaphors:

- "If you think education is expensive, try ignorance."

- "If you think justice is expensive, try injustice."

I like the metaphors better than the jokes. Though both, admittedly, make the reading more interesting. Don't know how much context they add, but oh well.

Also, finished editing capstone paper and I made a powerpoint presentation for it. Yay! and the presentation for it isn't until Tuesday. It's done and ahead of time.

I like being productive like this, while also watching House and Law & Order today as well and eating Ben & Jerry ice cream.

All in all, a pretty decent day.

Whoops

I watch way too much tv. For the past two days I've been watching The Practice on hulu.com It's a good show. I wish I would have watched it when it was on tv, but I was a little young then I guess (would have been around... 9-10 years old when it started). Of course, I should be writing a paper that is due tomorrow... Eh.

My roommate's birthday is today. Yay! She's now 21.

My dad got out of the hospital today. Thank God.

I took the LSAT on the 4th. When I got out, I felt okay. I didn't feel the urge to drink myself into a stupor or anything like that, though I can easily understand why someone would. I really need to finish my law school applications. I should find out my score in about ten days or so. I hope I did well enough so that I don't have to retake the damn thing in December. That would be awful. I don't even want to think about it right now. Back to The Practice.

LSAT

Today was the first day of my Kaplan LSAT class. I had to take a diagnostic. I got a 158. Not awful, but it's not where I'd like my score to be. Over the summer I was taking practice tests, my average was around a 160. My highest score was a 167. A 158 isn't too far off, but I was hoping I'd at least score in the 160's.

On the brightside, this diagnostic did instill the fear in me again about the LSAT. So maybe I'll start studying that hardcore. Though right now I'm getting ready to watch some Dexter and I'm eating Peanut Butter Panic Ice Cream (it's delicious. I drove to campus to get some).

There's more I want to say and could, but maybe later.

Dexter

Dexter is an amazing show. Weeds is too. I love them both.

No classes today. I did meet with my capstone advisor. Or at least, I hope he's my capstone advisor. I asked him to be, but he never said yes, just arranged a meeting with me during which we discussed topic for my senior paper. I'm pretty sure that means he's my advisor. I had a meeting for tutoring too. I got my schedule. Apparently I said I'd work 14 hours... I'm pretty sure I changed that, but oh well. It's not that important.

I'm tired of doing homework. I still have to read two articles for economics. I should get on that... but I'd rather watch Dexter.

Didn't do any law related stuff today. My LSAT class starts tomorrow. I've been slacking off on the studying something awful. Hopefully this class will motivate me to get focused on it again. I need to work on my personal statement some more too. I'm so tired of working on it. I want to be done with it.
